Gorgo Tondo Nero d’Avola – Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, Cantine Pellegrino

Gorgo Tondo Nero d’Avola – Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, Cantine Pellegrino

The Gorgo Tondo is an Italian red wine blend produced in Sicily by the Cantine Pellegrino with Nero d’Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The vineyards are located in the Mazara del Vallo in the Province of Trapani. The grapes are harvested in the middle of September. They are macerated in thermo-controlled stainless steel vats before spending approximately 24 months in stainless steel vats and oak barrels. The 2013 vintage of the Gorgo Tondo of Cantine Pellegrino is a purple smooth elegant-body wine with discreet perfumes of ripe cherries. My palate enjoyed charming aromas of blackberries and plum with hints of alcohol. Long-lasting finish. Excellent price/quality for this Italian wine that has the versatility to go well with a simple plate of pasta or some red meat.
