Clos de l’Oratoire des Papes 2007

The Clos de l’Oratoire des Papes is a red wine from Châteauneuf-du-Pape that comes from a 25-hectare vineyard whose vines offer a blend of the three great soils of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The 2007 vintage color is dark red. The wine offers an assertive and pleasant nose as soon as the bottle is opened. It seduces with aromas of black fruits and berries that mingle with chocolate notes. The mouth of the Clos de l’Oratoire des Papes 2007 does not betray the good impression of the nose. The material is both round and dense, but without heaviness. It caresses the palate without attacking it with a complexity that titillates the olfactory memory and a beautiful length. There are fruity aromas already perceived on the nose (blackberries, blackcurrant) with very light vegetal and woody traces. A very good time spent with this bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape bought many years ago and that gave me the impression to have maybe still a few good years before it could be appreciated at its fair value.
